Round one of the Doris Cham­bers four­somes and the four­somes cham­pi­onships were played in the last of the sunny con­di­tions as rain set in the fol­low­ing day.

Sh­eryl Cur­ran and Sue Turn­bull played well to­gether to win the Doris Cham­bers event with 69.5 nett, which will see them com­pete at Sanc­tu­ary Lakes Golf Club on Oc­to­ber 12.

The run­ners-up were Robyn Downs and Heather Long who scored 71 nett on count­back.

The sec­ond round of the cham­pi­onship will be played next Wed­nes­day.

Ball win­ners were Pat Serra and Lyn Fan­ning with 71 nett.

Near­est-the-pins went to Liz Mulc­ahy on the third (Gallery Cafe´), Lyn Fan­ning on the ninth (Cafe´ Alofa) and Sh­eryl Cur­ran on the 14th (ONE4ONE Cafe´).

Glad Rob­bins event

The semi-fi­nals of the Glad Rob­bins event has been fi­nalised with Deb Reilly to play off against Di Day. Con­grat­u­la­tions to th­ese women who will play the fi­nal on Fri­day, Au­gust 25.

Golf coach­ing

Ju­niors: golf lessons for ju­niors are be­ing of­fered next Sun­day, Au­gust 13 at $5 a child.

Chil­dren to bring their own clubs if they have them, but it’s not essen­tial.

Lessons be­gin at 10.30 am sharp un­til noon.

Women’s lessons: Au­gust 13 at 1 pm — one-hour group lessons.

Be­gin­ners are en­cour­aged to come along, and also mem­bers and non-mem­bers who wish to gain some valu­able tips. The cost is $5 a per­son, with pro­ceeds go­ing to women’s golf de­vel­op­ment.

Lessons are con­ducted by ex­pe­ri­enced Hill Top women golfers.

Golf is a great way to ex­er­cise and so­cialise.
