Lift Off din­ner tick­ets on sale

Tick­ets to the an­nual Lift Off ed­u­ca­tion schol­ar­ship din­ner are on sale.

Money raised at the din­ner, which brings to­gether sup­port­ers, fun­ders, re­cip­i­ents and other stake­hold­ers in­volved in the schol­ar­ships, will be put to­wards a gen­eral $5000 Lift Off schol­ar­ship.

The aim of the Lift Off Ed­u­ca­tion Schol­ar­ships is to in­crease the num­ber of stu­dents from the re­gion who are able to pur­sue their dreams of post- se­condary ed­u­ca­tion.

This year, 27 schol­ar­ships with a value of $80 000 were awarded to stu­dents fac­ing some bar­rier to pur­su­ing their ed­u­ca­tion dream.

The an­nual fundrais­ing din­ner will be on Tues­day, Au­gust 29, in Cov­ers Restau­rant at Goul­burn Ovens In­sti­tute of TAFE’s Shep­par­ton cam­pus.

Guests will hear from a young per­son who is ben­e­fit­ing from a schol­ar­ship and schol­ar­ship part­ners will be recog­nised for their con­tri­bu­tion.

‘‘The amaz­ing gen­eros­ity of these part­ners will open doors for many young peo­ple who would oth­er­wise strug­gle to make the tran­si­tion from se­condary to post-se­condary ed­u­ca­tion,’’ The Com­mu­nity Fund chief ex­ec­u­tive Ch­eryl Ham­mer said.

‘‘This is a strong en­dorse­ment from busi­ness and mem­bers of our com­mu­nity for the Lift Off Schol­ar­ships and we are very grate­ful they con­sider pro­vid­ing ed­u­ca­tion op­por­tu­ni­ties for our young peo­ple as a worth­while pur­suit.’’

Ap­pli­ca­tions for next year’s schol­ar­ships open on Mon­day, Septem­ber 11, and close on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 18.
