The Tatura Guardian - - News - By Tara Whitsed The launch begins at 2 pmat the Tatura Irrigation and Wartime Camps Museum, 45 Hogan St, Tatura, on Thursday, August 24.

After his travels overseas, Evert Worm saw a need for the town of Tatura to have its own tourism map.

‘‘Most of the tourist places over there would have maps, which is what enticed me to push ahead with the project,’’ Mr Worm said and added that it was something Tatura had lacked for years.

Mr Worm said he began the project in February this year when he went about constructing and printing a double-sided map of the town and its surrounds.

‘‘It highlights what we have to offer in Tatura,’’ he said.

After living in the town for the past 45 years, Mr Worm said he had spent much of his time as president of the Tatura Historical Society, and he often manned the Tatura Museum.

‘‘We have a lot of people coming through asking ‘Where is this or that?’,’’ he said. ‘‘Tatura has a lot to offer.’’ After working independently to create the maps, Mr Worm said some key businesses came on board as sponsors.

‘‘All the money from the sponsors goes back into the museum,’’ he said.

Mr Worm will launch the map this Thursday at the Tatura Museum and is encouraging community members to come along.

‘‘We’ll have a cuppa and some dignitaries will be in attendance,’’ he said.

Thrilled: Tatura’s Evert Worm is pleased to announce the Map of Tatura has been completed and will be launched this Thursday.
