Tatura po­lice have com­mended a mem­ber of the pub­lic for call­ing them af­ter a lo­cal man, 69, was seen dump­ing rub­bish along Tatura-Un­dera Rd, near the in­ter­sec­tion of Pyke Rd, Tatura.

‘‘A wit­ness ob­served an el­derly man dump­ing a quan­tity of house­hold rub­bish in­clud­ing a vac­uum cleaner on the side of the road,’’ Tatura po­lice Sergeant Dar­ryl Phillips said.

‘‘Through the good work of the wit­ness we were no­ti­fied and he was is­sued with a penalty no­tice and fined $317.’’

Sgt Phillips con­demned the dump­ing and en­cour­aged mem­bers of the pub­lic to write down the reg­is­tra­tion, time, date and lo­ca­tion of rub­bish dumpers and urged them to no­tify po­lice as soon as pos­si­ble.
