The annual Reg Poole concert at the Hartson Hall has been hailed a success with the fundraiser event proving to be popular among locals once again.

Harston Hall committee member Heather Stuart said the event raised funds for the upkeep and maintenance of the hall where several artists entertained those present.

‘‘This year we were favoured by OneFM announcer Di Hunter coming to join us as compere,’’ Ms Stuart said.

Reg Poole, along with artists JR Williams, Kim Ritchie and Kyabram local John Mathewson, brought their own styles of country, rock and gospel to the hall.

‘‘Many of the items performed were written by the artists themselves, many having quite amessage, particularly about life in the country, which was most appropriate,’’ Ms Stuart said.

Committee president Greg Sherman said they would like to thank several Tatura businesses who donated goods for the raffle.

‘‘Namely a meat tray from Tatura Family Butchers, which was won by Robert Balfour of Mooroopna; an assortment of biscuits donated by Tatura Hot Bread, which was won by Freda Clement who was also fortunate enough to draw the lucky ticket for the pot plant, supplied Vibert’s Mitre 10 Tatura,’’ he said.

‘‘Janice Barrette, I am sure, will enjoy the meal voucher supplied by the Tatura Hotel and Paula Parkinson drew the ticket for a pack of scratchies donated by Tatura newsXpress — good luck Paula.’’

Mr Sherman said the committee would also like to give a big thanks to the staff and volunteers at Generations Op-Shop for once again assisting with ticket sales.

‘‘This is quite a big task and is greatly appreciated,’’ he said.

‘‘And thanks to the Tatura Guardian and the Tatura Bulletin for their assistance in promoting the event.’’

Ms Stuart said guests capped off the evening by enjoying a country-style supper, prepared with local by the local ladies, rounding off a good night of foottapping entertainment in an old country hall.
