Merrigum golf:

The Tatura Guardian - - Sport - — Bill Bray

It was the final round of this season’s Kyabram Tyre Service award and eclectic at Merrigum on Saturday, along with the Privilege Cup, Simon and Tash’s least putts and Brownie’s secret nine, so there was plenty worth playing for.

For the most part the golfers handled the windy conditions well.

It was pretty much a repeat of the men’s competi- tion from last week with Tony Borrelli winning the day with a round of 88-20-68.

In doing so he claimed maximum points in the Kyabram Tyre Service award, the winner of which will be announced at the presentation night next month.

Borrelli’s consistency over the round also allowed him to claim Brownie’s secret nine for which he was well rewarded. Thanks go to Bruce Brown for taking on this new initiative.

John Fuller was again runner-up in the men’s competition after a round of 84-15-69.

Fuller also took out Simon and Tash’s least putts with 28, one better than Borrelli and Phil Savage.

Nearest the pins were won by Cory Berghofer on the sixth and Rod Newham on the jackpot 12th.

This Saturday’s event is par.

Being AFL grand final day, players can organise their own groups and hit off from 9 am.

It will be a big day for a couple of our diehard Richmond supporters, so good luck fellas.

I’m sure you will have most of the club behind you.
