Hill Top women’s golf:
The first of the month saw the women play a 4BBB stableford event which included the qualifying round of the Edna Starritt event, and sponsored by Tatura Hotel.
Jan Coe and Gail Wootton won the day with 42 points on a three-way countback. Sheryl Curran and Robyn Downs were runners-up with 42 points.
Lois Rogers and Roylyn Harris won a ball with 42 points. Nearest to the pins: 3rd Gallery Cafe´: Kerry Gross, 6th Tatura Hot Bread: Liz Mulcahy, 9th Cafe´ Alofa: Lyn Fanning, 14th One4One Cafe´: Roylyn Harris.
Nine hole competition: Joyce Tavener has scored another win with 14 points, just edging out Helen Williams with 11 points.
Edna Starritt 4BBB event: The qualifying pairs were reduced from eight pairs to six this year as there were many golfers still up north enjoying the warmer climes. The first round of match play is to be played on or before August 20.
The top qualifying pair of Sheryl Curran and Robyn Downs have the bye in the first round, as does Lois Rogers and Roylyn Harris.
The first round will see Heather Long and Josie De Ieso play Sue Turnbull and Deb Reilly, while Liz Mulcahy and Kerry Gross will play Terri Wangeman and Colleen Johns.
Wednesday’s event: Stroke, monthly medal: sponsored by Drummond Golf, Hill Top Brooch, putting and the qualifying round of the Glad Robbins event.
