The warm weather came in a lit­tle early, with some ladies bat­tling to ad­just to the heat as they played the sta­ble­ford event.

Cap­tain Terry spon­sored her day, and also sub­sti­tuted any gifts of ap­pre­ci­a­tion usu­ally given to the cap­tain by lady golfers and opted to have them in­stead do­nate more than $200 to Rid­ing for the Dis­abled.

A great ef­fort to this wor­thy cause.

The day saw some ex­cel­lent scores recorded in both grades.

Bev Roberts had one of those days, scor­ing 42 points to win A-grade, which re­duced her hand­i­cap a lit­tle — not good news when play­ing pen­nant.

Run­ner-up was Janette Hay­ward with 38 points; also a pen­nant player.

B-grade win­ner with 38 points was Chris Beard, an ex Hill Top cap­tain who was re­cently wel­comed back to the fold af­ter a few years play­ing at Barham Golf Club.

Run­ner-up was Di Day with 36 points.

Ball win­ners: Sue Turn­bull, Heather Long 34, Gail Meneilly 33, Beryl Home, Joan Hill 32, Liz Mulcahy, Lynda O’Shan­nessy, Deb Reilly, Colleen Johns, Bec Jef­fers, Josie De Ieso.

Near­est-the-pins: third Gallery Cafe´, Bec Jef­fers; sixth Tatura Hot Bread, Colleen Johns; ninth Cafe´ Alofa, Sue Pogue; 14th One4One Cafe´, Bev Roberts.

Nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion: The ever con­sis­tent Joyce Tavener won the event.

Sum­mer 4BBB Pen­nant: Hill Top trav­elled to Kyabram Val­ley View where they de­feated Kialla 3/2 which has them stay­ing on top of the lad­der.

There was no pen­nant yes­ter­day due to the Mel­bourne Cup week­end, but play will re­sume on Novem­ber 12 at Mooroopna.

Com­ing events: The clos­ing of the win­ter sea­son and AGMwill be held on Novem­ber 14. Nom­i­na­tions for of­fice bear­ers to be sub­mit­ted ASAP.
