VICTORIA Mornington Peninsula. 59 Eastern Grey Rise, Flinders.
Lou Benetti built many windows into his lovely Flinders home, so everywhere you look there’s a captivating view.
“We have the most stunning views down the valley, it’s almost as if we’re on top of a mountain,” he says.
The property sits on the edge of the Mornington Peninsula National Park and looks down towards Bass Strait.
Lou and his wife Lynne moved from Flinders township to their 20ha property 20 years ago and built their home in the style of an English manor. “It’s a lovely country family home,” he says.
The couple raised their three children here and Benetti says there’s plenty of space for outdoor fun, whether it’s climbing trees, a spot of tennis on the north-south court or laps in the 20m solar-heated pool.
The main living space is downstairs, with a country-style kitchen and family areas leading through to a light-filled conservatory. Upstairs are four of the five bedrooms and another living room, which opens on to a terrace overlooking the countryside.
The property has two dams, cyclone fences and cattle yards as well as a workshop and large shed.
While the property feels secluded, it’s close to both Flinders village and the wineries and restaurants of Red Hill.
Benetti says he and his wife will be likely to shed a tear as they leave their family home of two decades, but with two of their three children living elsewhere it’s time to move on. They plan to downsize but will stay local.
