LA spec home set to fetch $195m
A new spec home built on a Los Angeles property once owned by Barbra Streisand is listing for $US150 million ($195m).
The estate has 10 bedrooms and about 3530sq m of space spread across a main house and multiple guesthouses, according to Coldwell Banker Previews International, which is listing the Holmby Hills property.
The 8750sq m property on North Carolwood Drive, historically known as Mon Reve, also includes three swimming pools and a private hiking trail.
Developer Gala Asher of Beverly Hills-based Dream Projects LA declined to comment, as did his wife, listing agent Ginger Glass of Coldwell Banker Previews International.
According to a spokesman for Coldwell Banker Pre- views, the main house has a spa level with an indoor lap pool, hair salon, steam and massage rooms, and an area for manicures and pedicures.
The main house has an entertainment suite, which the developer calls Club Mon Reve, with a screening room, a lounge and a wine room; it can be accessed from a separate entrance, allowing guests to come and go without walking through the main house.
There are two outdoor infinity pools on the property. Asher and partners paid $US13.25m in 2014 to buy the vacant lot from tech entrepreneur David Bohnett, according to public records. The North Carolwood Drive estate has 10 bedrooms and about 3530sq m of space spread across a main house and multiple guesthouses, plus three swimming pools and a private hiking trail.
Streisand’s long-time house on the property was demolished around 2000, after she sold it to Les Bider, former chairman of Warner/Chappell Music and now co-chief executive of healthcare company PinnacleCare.
Bider demolished the house and drew up plans for a new 1200sq m house but put the parcel of land on the market instead. It was then purchased for $US6.75m by Bohnett, who used it as a private park.
Carolwood Drive has seen some of LA’s priciest home sales in recent years, including Fleur de Lys for $US102m and the former Walt Disney estate for $US74m.
