A human condition
Nikki Gemmell (“The female flaw”, July 1-2) might be right: women do not always help their fellow women rise to the top. But she is wrong to suggest this is a problem particular to women. All humans act selfishly under conditions of scarcity. Is it any wonder that as we compete for a disproportionately small share of the nation’s pay packets and prestige, the sisterhood sometimes cracks under the pressure?
