Passionfruit rootstock has taken over my garden, smothering plants. I’ve tried spraying with glyphosate and digging it up to no avail. Any suggestions?
Alison Cook, SA Excessive suckering from the rootstock of grafted passionfruit is an all-too-common nightmare; it can continue for years. You need to keep spraying it or smothering with thick layers of newspaper under mulch whenever it appears. Digging will tend to make it worse. Look for seedling-grown rather than grafted plants next time.
