There are three main race days to consider, each with its own style persuasion. Derby Day (Nov 3) is the easiest in a sense, as the dress code is simply black and white. This season that could mean graphic prints or two-tone florals, for example. Melbourne Cup Day (Nov 6) is all about colour. Think bold, think bright, perhaps block colour or prints. This is the day to make an impact. Oaks Day (Nov 8) is otherwise known as Ladies Day, so the vibe here is pretty and feminine: pastels and floral prints are most popular. The main thing to remember is to keep it classy – and that includes not stumbling home with your shoes in your hand.
