Richard Guil­li­att’s as­ser­tion that peo­ple on the autism spec­trum share the trait of “lack of em­pa­thy” with psy­chopaths per­pet­u­ates a dam­ag­ing stereo­type and is a slap in the face to the many em­pa­thetic in­di­vid­u­als on the spec­trum and those who love them (“We’ve had smashed win­dows…” Oct 20-21).
