Songwriter’s Circle, 2.30pm, Ovation A Canadian songwriting affair hosted by Bruce Guthro, a singer- songwriter from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. This afternoon’s guests are Rita MacNeil and Ron Sexsmith. MacNeil grew up in a place called Big Pond, Cape Breton, and has received three Junos ( Canada’s highest musical honour) and four Canadian Country Music Awards and was inducted into the Order of Canada in 1992. Probably better known here is Sexsmith, whose work has been widely covered. The Simpsons, 6pm, Ten This has been on more times than a fireman’s hat in a bushfire, but the episode title alone — The Summer of 4ft2 — is worth the price of readmission. On a summer holiday, Lisa tries to shed her nerdy image to fit in with some cool kids. Versailles Stories, 7.30pm, SBS New series starts tonight. Follows the world- famous Zingaro equestrian theatre as it rehearses in the grounds of the palace of Versailles. Construction of a stadium that will house thousands of spectators is behind schedule. But for the riders and horses, the show must go on. Collectors, 8pm, ABC Join Andy Muirhead, pictured, and the Collectors team as they rake over an impressive collection of the works of Somerset Maugham, designer toys and town and country furnishings. Andy also promises to reveal a mystery object that will melt our brains. Goodness, I hope the ABC is keeping those Daleks locked away.
