WEEKEND SPORT

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Tv -

THE Hidden Valley raceway is a state- of- the- art motorsport circuit just 10km from bustling downtown Darwin. It was here a year ago that Craig Lowndes made his charge up the leaderboard for the V8 Supercar crown, only to falter in the last race of the season at Phillip Island. Lowndes is back in the far north this weekend but faces a big challenge as he tries to make up ground on series leader Rick Kelly and the tireless Mark Skaife, who proved at age 40, behind the wheel of a new Holden Commodore at Eastern Creek two weeks ago, that he’s still got the drive to win another Supercar title. Live on the Seven network today from 2pm in all markets and from 1.30pm tomorrow everywhere except Perth, where it will be screened at 11.30am. The Swans’ push for a third consecutive AFL finals appearance begins in earnest tonight when they go up against Collingwood in Sydney, live on Ten from 7.30pm. Those readers who have always wanted to know what all the fuss is about in America’s Cup match race sailing can catch the hype live with races one and two between Alinghi and Team New Zealand from Valencia, Spain, tonight and tomorrow from 11pm on Fox Sports 3. Tonight’s Springboks- All Blacks Tri Nations rugby Test from South Africa may well be a precursor to the World Cup final in France later in the year. It will be screened live on FS1, with the kick- off slated for 11pm.
