The Beautiful World of Ugly Betty, 2.30pm, Seven This is the sort of background material that’s supposed to excite fans, where the producers string things out by rehashing the plot without telling you anything you don’t already know. Lost does it every other week. At least Seven has had the good grace not to pretend this is an episode, screening it today instead of tomorrow night. If you’re hoping to see Betty ( America Ferrera) without the braces and John Howard eyebrows you’ll be disappointed. Young producers, creators and writers only. Doctor Who, 7.30pm, ABC A Shakespearean odyssey that begins in 1599 with some alien baddies who look remarkably like Klingons. The Doctor and Ms Jones turn up at the Globe Theatre, where Love’s Labour’s Lost has just premiered. ‘‘ And those are men dressed as women, right?’’ asks Jones. ‘‘ Ah, London never changes,’’ quips the Doc.
