Wildlife Down Under With Nick Baker, 7.30pm, Animal Planet On Queensland’s Mission Beach, young English wildlife whippersnapper Nick Barker is on a mission of his own: to track down a cassowary. Will he be successful? I reckon he might. Desperate Housewives, 8.30pm, Seven It’s mid- July and many of our favourite shows are heading for the showers to make room for new players. In this third- season finale, Desperate Housewives has a few surprises in store. Suicides, betrayals, surprise weddings, that sort of thing. Susan, who was going to marry Ian a couple of weeks ago, is happily preparing for her wedding to Mike, even as Gabrielle marries Victor. With Rick dispatched, Lynette has a medical crisis of her own just as her husband is getting back on his feet. When Bree returns from Switzerland, the four main housewives are reunited for a dose of industrial- grade wedding sentiment. But are things as sweet as they seem? Brothers & Sisters, 9.30pm, Seven This show, too, has its finale tonight. A different animal to its network sister ( above), B& S goes for the emotional jugular instead of the weird and funny bones. Justin ( Dave Annable, pictured) has his departure for active service in Iraq moved forward and doesn’t want it to ruin his sister Kitty’s engagement party. The senator’s family provides comic relief at the party, most unbecoming for a president- in- waiting. Kitty sums things up best: ‘‘ It’s been an awful year, but it’s been the best awful year of my life.’’
