Vis­ual art: Images that are beau­ti­ful, strange and un­ex­pected crowd the first his­tor­i­cal sur­vey de­voted to South Aus­tralian pho­tog­ra­phy, writes art critic Se­bas­tian Smee. Of spe­cial in­ter­est are pho­to­graphs de­pict­ing in­ter­ac­tion be­tween white and in­dige­nous Aus­tralians, and of peo­ple at work and play: an 1898 pho­to­graph by H. H.
