THE Sherrin crowd will have to cool their heels for another few days, as round one of the AFL does not begin until Thursday. But NRL fans are kitted up and right into it. Round one continues tonight with three matches on Fox Sports 2 starting at 5.30pm, followed by the BroncosPanthers match at 2pm tomorrow. Monday features the opening 2008 game for last year’s premiers, Melbourne Storm, when they face the Warriors on FS2 at 7pm. The AFL season begins with matches featuring Carlton- Richmond and Port Adelaide- Geelong. For 15- a- side followers, Super 14’ s round five tonight throws up three consecutive matches on FS3 from 3.30pm. The first two games — Blues v Force, and Crusaders v Cheetahs — will be played in New Zealand. These games precede the Reds- Bulls encounter from 7.30pm. For those willing the Kiwis to inflict further pain — but in cricket — the second Test between New Zealand and England is on FS1 today and tomorrow from 6pm. The Kiwis thrashed England in the first Test, at Hamilton, last weekend. The second Test is on delay because the Pura Cup final between NSW and Victoria, at the SCG, will be live at 10am on FS1. For tennis buffs, the Indian Wells Masters is on live from California at 5am tomorrow on FS3. Last year’s final was a classic between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Nadal last year became the first Spaniard in seven years to win at Indian Wells. Djokovic arrives as the new Australian Open champion.
