THE Sher­rin crowd will have to cool their heels for an­other few days, as round one of the AFL does not be­gin un­til Thurs­day. But NRL fans are kit­ted up and right into it. Round one con­tin­ues tonight with three matches on Fox Sports 2 start­ing at 5.30pm, fol­lowed by the Bron­cosPan­thers match at 2pm to­mor­row. Mon­day fea­tures the open­ing 2008 game for last year’s pre­miers, Melbourne Storm, when they face the War­riors on FS2 at 7pm. The AFL sea­son be­gins with matches fea­tur­ing Carl­ton- Rich­mond and Port Ade­laide- Gee­long. For 15- a- side fol­low­ers, Su­per 14’ s round five tonight throws up three con­sec­u­tive matches on FS3 from 3.30pm. The first two games — Blues v Force, and Cru­saders v Cheetahs — will be played in New Zealand. Th­ese games pre­cede the Reds- Bulls en­counter from 7.30pm. For those will­ing the Ki­wis to in­flict fur­ther pain — but in cricket — the sec­ond Test be­tween New Zealand and Eng­land is on FS1 to­day and to­mor­row from 6pm. The Ki­wis thrashed Eng­land in the first Test, at Hamil­ton, last week­end. The sec­ond Test is on de­lay be­cause the Pura Cup fi­nal be­tween NSW and Vic­to­ria, at the SCG, will be live at 10am on FS1. For ten­nis buffs, the In­dian Wells Masters is on live from Cal­i­for­nia at 5am to­mor­row on FS3. Last year’s fi­nal was a clas­sic be­tween Rafael Nadal and No­vak Djokovic. Nadal last year be­came the first Spa­niard in seven years to win at In­dian Wells. Djokovic ar­rives as the new Aus­tralian Open cham­pion.
