Can We Help?, 6.30pm, ABC1

We all sleep, but do we all dream? Personally, I dream of electric sheep. But with four kids and 12 years of broken sleep, how will host Pete Rowsthorn fare when he visits the sleep research lab at Monash University in Melbourne?

Ocean Voyagers, 6.30pm, Animal Planet

‘‘ Listen, the whales are calling,’’ the narrator tells us. ‘‘ Follow them into their world. Listen to the story of the mother and her newborn, and you will know the story of the humpback whales.’’ The loudest sounds made by any animal, the adult humpback whale, teach every newborn humpback that it is not alone. If the sonorous voice of the narrator sounds familiar, it should: it’s Meryl Streep, pictured. Magical viewing that should be mandatory for those who believe whaling is a good idea.

Cook Yourself Thin, 7.30pm, LifeStyle

Take one size- 16 woman who really loves her food, mix together with four hot women chefs who are waiting to share their skinny secrets, allow six weeks to reduce by one size, and you’ve got a recipe to cook yourself thin. Phantasmagorical! Clearly it’s lady narrator’s night, and the duty here falls to the gently Scottish Ashley Jensen, last seen as Christina in Ugly Betty .
