ACTION aplenty in the golf, tennis and netball arenas this weekend as these sports try to lure footy fans from their regular television fare. From 6am today on Fox Sports 1, Australia’s Adam Scott tries to defend his Shell Houston Open title on the USPGA Tour, as excitement builds towards next weekend’s US Masters. On FS1 from 11pm, the last major tournament on the US hard court tennis calendar — the Sony Ericsson in Miami for men and women — has reached its final rounds. The women are followed by the men. Netball’s breakthrough trans- Tasman competition — the ANZ Championship involving 10 teams from the two top nations in the world — begins this weekend. FS2 features the NZ Central Pulse against the Melbourne Vixens from 12pm today. Two games will be shown live on FS3 tomorrow: the Queensland Firebirds v WA’s West Coast Fever at 1pm, followed by the NZ Mystics v NZ Canterbury at 3.30pm. Mixed in with all that is round eight of the Super 14, round four of the NRL and round three of the AFL, which throws up some bumper matches. Unbeaten Hawthorn face the Kangaroos at the Telstra Dome on Ten at 2pm today. This precedes the WA derby: West Coast v Fremantle on FS1 at 5pm. Stay on FS1 as Brisbane host Sydney at the Gabba tonight, live from 8pm. Round ball fans don’t lose out as England Premier League soccer heavyweights Arsenal and Liverpool clash from 10.30pm tonight on FS3.
