WEEKEND SPORT

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Tv -

I’D like to think the Sydney Swans can claw their way to another win against the Cats in Geelong today, but the going down at Skilled Stadium isn’t going to be just another stroll in the park against the red- hot defending AFL premiers. The game is live on Ten from 2pm. Tomorrow’s action on Fox Sports 1 from 1pm features Melbourne up against a resurgent Carlton. On Seven, Sydneysiders get a look at what they are missing with the first of three street races at Hamilton, New Zealand, for the V8 Supercars, with the weekend action under way from noon. My pick of the Super 14 rugby union tonight is the Waratahs at home to the Lions of South Africa, live on FS3 at the earlier time of 5.30pm. The way young Freddy Fittler has had the Sydney Roosters crowing of late in the NRL makes me think the Knights of Newcastle will find their next assignment hard going. Kick- off is slated for 1.30pm tomorrow on FS2. Two cracking local derbies highlight tomorrow night’s English Premier League fare with Aston Villa at home to Birmingham on FS3 at the earlier time of 9pm, followed by Newcastle United at home to Sunderland from 10.30pm on FS1. For those readers who have discovered Setanta Sports, tomorrow night’s featured live game from the Scottish Premier League sees Celtic at home to Aberdeen, with kick- off slated for midnight.
