The Piano Makers, 7.30pm, 10.30pm, BBC World
Germany is the proud home of piano making in Europe. The Bechstein company has been crafting pianos since 1853 and holds a proud tradition of passing on the master craft through vocational training and apprenticeships. As with programs on guitar building, there is a fascination here for the musically inclined. Beautifully made and well told. See how an apprentice learns every step of the process of making a piano. Then build your own in a trice.
Food Safari, 7.30pm, SBS
OK, it’s a repeat, but for the many Italophiles among us, tonight’s episode of Maeve O’Meara’s engaging foodie show, entitled Italian Safari, will be well worth a second look. Without leaving home, explore food from the land that gave us pizza and pasta, scaloppine and saltimbocca, prosciutto, biscotti and cappuccino.
House, 8.30pm, Ten
