Anzac Day, from 9am, ABC1

ABC1 is com­mem­o­rat­ing Anzac Day with a wel­ter of themed pro­gram­ming. Some gen­eral cov­er­age will go out at dif­fer­ent times in dif­fer­ent states, and reg­u­lar shows such as Col­lec­tors and Can We Help? will turn in war- themed episodes at their usual times. Live cov­er­age of var­i­ous Anzac Day marches can be seen from 9am in NSW, Vic­to­ria, the North­ern Ter­ri­tory and the ACT; from 9.30am in South Aus­tralia and West­ern Aus­tralia; and from 10am in Tas­ma­nia and Queens­land. The Gal­lipoli Dawn Ser­vice, hosted by Jen­nifer Byrne, will screen at noon in WA, at 12.30pm in Queens­land, Tas­ma­nia and SA, and at 1pm in NSW, Vic­to­ria and the ACT. Fi­nally, the Villers- Bre­ton­neux Me­mo­rial Ser­vice can be seen at 1pm in WA; at 1.30pm in Queens­land, Tas­ma­nia, SA and the NT; and at 2pm in NSW, Vic­to­ria and ACT. Check lo­cal guides.

Anzac Day Spe­cial: The Quiet Li­ons, 2pm, Seven

The story of an Aus­tralian sur­geon, an Aus­tralian ma­chine­gun­ner and a Thai trader in­volved in the Thai- Burma rail­way.

Can We Help?, 6.30pm, ABC1

Now in his 90s, Ralph Churches re­calls his es­cape from a pris­oner of war camp in Yu­goslavia. He was aided in his es­cape, which was two years in the plan­ning, by lo­cal par­ti­sans. Hero­ically, Churches went back to the camp and, again with the help of lo­cals, lib­er­ated 100 men, who spent the next two weeks evad­ing their cap­tors.

Col­lec­tors, 8pm, ABC1

The team in­ves­ti­gates a col­lec­tion of Gal­lipoli mem­o­ra­bilia.
