The Weekend Australian - Review - - Profile -

Career highlights: My last two promotions, the first to the University of Technology, Sydney, while a resident of the Keesing Studio in Paris, and my recent appointment to RMIT University after a writing fellowship to the University of East Anglia. Travel seems to hold a special career magic. Career lowlight: As a schoolgirl I worked part time in a pet shop and the owner locked me up with his carpet snake. Favourite poets: Australians Kenneth Slessor, A. D. Hope and Pam Brown. Reading for pleasure: At the moment, Orhan Pamuk and Jose Saramago. Secret vice: My 1973 Peugeot 504. Friends can’t work out why I love the old car, but all the other 504 drivers wave, which is nice.
