The Biggest Loser Finale, 7.30pm, Ten

All things must pass, as George Harrison was wont to say, and I bet it can’t come soon enough for the tortured souls of The Biggest Loser . For the fans at home, this two- hour extravaganza will also be a long march to the victory of the last one standing ( on the scales).

Catalyst, 8pm, ABC1

Tonight our hosts investigate the little known relationship between fire and water along the Murray- Darling Basin. Welcome to the billabong of the 21st century, where the water turns to battery acid. From Queensland to South Australia, see fire, flood and acid mud along the banks of Australia’s largest food bowl.

Ghost Whisperer, 8.30pm, Seven

Allison Dubois of Medium isn’t available on Ten tonight, due to a combination of The Biggest Loser Finale and games 18 and 19 of the Indian Premier League Twenty20. Instead, satisfy your fetish for chicks who see dead people with this episode about another ( male) ghost whisperer, who turns up to bring that particularly pouty frown to Melinda’s normally sweet visage. He is Melinda’s half- brother. Can you believe it?

Lost, 9.30pm, Seven

There’s a strong chance Lost has jumped the shark. Last week the island was supposed to have stopped Michael, aka Kevin Johnson, ( Harold Perrineau Jr, pictured) from killing himself, even as he put a loaded gun to his head and pulled the trigger, multiple times. Bollocks!
