The faith­ful will have watched 35 hours of the show and 167 per­for­mances, but lo­cals won’t have had a shred to do with the nearly 60 mil­lion votes cast months ago in the US. Ah well, such ir­rel­e­van­cies are the wages of watch­ing the daz­zling hand­ful left to fight it out tonight. There will be tears, trauma and tri­umph among the spins and turns, and not just from host Cat Dee­ley, pic­tured. The Gourmet Next Door, 9pm, Life­Style Food In sym­pa­thy per­haps with The Week­end Aus­tralian ’ sec­tion col­umn The Arm­chair Trav­eller , meet chef Amy Fin­ley, who says she can trans­port her­self across the world with mere recipes for food from ex­otic lo­ca­tions. I may man­age it with the ac­tual meals, but zon­ing out on recipes alone is a skill to be reck­oned with. But be­fore you can say Morocco, there’s a rich chicken stew with squash and dried plums in a tangy mari­nade on her ta­ble.
