Professor Regan’s Supermarket Trolley, 7.30pm, SBS

‘‘ Somewhere there is a perfect kitchen, where all the products do exactly as they say on the tin. All the super- foods are super, and all the marketing claims are accurate.’’ So says a creepy voice- over as dreamlike music kicks things off. Then it’s down to the prof as she goes to manufacturers and nails them with the lies and falsehoods she has detected. Not one dreamy product left standing.

Movie: Miami Vice, 8.30pm, Ten

Don’t panic. This is the 2006 movie version starring Colin Farrell as Sonny Crockett and Jamie Foxx as Detective Ricardo Tubbs. With Farrell the man of the month due to his critically well- received turn in In Bruges , it may well be worth checking out.

Murphy’s Law, 9.40pm, ABC1

Yer man is back in town. Yes, tough Irish cop Tommy Murphy ( James Nesbitt, pictured), the man whose career got off to a roaring start three seasons ago in Northern Ireland when he was forced to carry a bomb and blow himself up or have his daughter killed, is back on your screens. Obviously he didn’t blow himself up. After he was unable to go through with killing 200 people ( and himself), he went home to find the bad guys had slit his daughter’s throat and forced his wife to watch. All of his truculence, misery and black humour can be traced back to this appalling event: despite all he has achieved since, he still blames himself for his daughter’s death. See our in- depth review next week.
