O save space I’ve lumped all the Christ­mas ti­tles to­gether without com­ment at the end of this col­umn and in­vite you to take your pick. Mine would be that lovely old English one with Ralph Richardson, The Holly and the Ivy, which you’d ex­pect the ABC to be show­ing but is on Nine ( 3.30am, Wed­nes­day). Like all posh English films in black and white in the 1950s, it was on in Mel­bourne at the Grosvenor, near the top of Lit­tle Collins Street, and in Syd­ney at the Em­bassy ( alas, long since gone).
