Three Men Go to New England

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Tuesday, 8.30pm, ABC1 If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air, quaint little villages here and there, you’ll probably enjoy tonight’s adventures in Cape Cod Bay with those three men of renown, Dara O’ Briain, Rory McGrath and Griff Rhys Jones. The lads are in search of a boat they can float along the New England coast to join the birthday party flotilla celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty. On the way to Provincetown in a different boat, they intend to do some fishing and see a whale or two. As all good fishermen know, the best way to catch fish is to be distracted by something else. Sure enough, the sighting of a pilot whale distracts the lads, and the call ‘‘ fish on’’ from their helmsman leads them back to their straining rods. However, comedians are not always funny and they don’t necessarily make good fishermen. Provincetown, with the highest population of gay couples in the US, proves more interesting.
