Pineapple Dance Studios

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Friday, 11pm, ABC2 It’s easy to get the impression that the sparkle has gone out of dance shows, what with the recent axing of Ten’s bright hope Everybody Dance Now. So it was with some trepidation that I loaded the preview disc of Pineapple Dance Studios. I wasn’t mollified when I looked at the timeslot but consoled myself that at least Aunty wouldn’t have forked out millions for mentors alone. Thankfully PDS turns out to be a comedy reality program that delights in sending itself up gutless. No contestants, no eliminations, no awful judges, no expensive mentors. In the end it’s like a really stupid dance version of the David Walliams and Matt Lucas mockumentary Come Fly with Me. What a relief.
