Tuesday, 9pm, Comedy New York funnyman Louis C.K., who took home a swag of Emmys last week, powers on through his third series. Tonight one of Louie’s young daughters wants to know why he doesn’t have a girlfriend. So he sets off on a quest. A female comic charms him from onstage at his regular venue, the Comedy Cellar, while he watches fascinated and highly amused from the wings. Smitten, they end up in bed together but she is repulsed at the idea of having dinner with Louie and his girls. A great sequence follows in which he imagines each of the teachers in his daughters’ school as his new partner. Then a hot bookseller in a bookshop seems to take a shine to him. Louie’s fantasies intrude and he imagines making wild, passionate love to her as books rain down like the rose petals in American Beauty. You know, Louie could really use a break. Will his open-hearted, labrador-like appeal to the bookseller get her to go out with him? She already knows he has daughters, so surely he’s halfway there.
