Kirstie and Phil’s Vacation

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Friday, 7.30pm, LifeStyle Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer have become one of British television’s great double acts. Engaging and just a bit genteel, they embody that peculiarly modern TV fantasy: the possibility of personal redemption though self-improvement. They are famous for their property show Location, Location, Location and its offshoots that deal with the housing market and how you can become a better person if you learn how to negotiate its pitfalls. There’s always lots of melodrama — some of the participants’ aspirations are positively utopian — and travelogue as they take us across Britain. Now, like a smart husband and wife (they are not a couple off the screen), in this series they are checking out the best holidays across the world. Tonight they are in Catalonia, in Spain, and the Maldives. It’s a hoot.
