Mon­day, 9.30pm, His­tory British ac­tor and comedian Tony Robin­son has been trav­el­ling across Aus­tralia in this new travel se­ries as ir­re­press­ible and hyper­ki­netic as al­ways. Fol­low­ing in the foot­steps of Michael Palin and Stephen Fry, he has be­come an acute and per­sua­sive ex­po­nent of the TV travel nar­ra­tive. His observations, like theirs, are con­tained within the per­sona of the slightly dotty English­man Abroad. And, again em­ploy­ing his sig­na­ture sto­ry­telling tech­nique — part dy­namic tour guide, part vet­eran comic who can’t re­sist stop­ping to find hu­mour in any­thing from a bus stop and a street sign to an an­cient per­gola — he takes to Aus­tralia’s streets.
