Territory Cops

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Thursday, 7.30pm, CI This new fly-on-the-wall Foxtel series from John McAvoy’s Eyeworks Australia, written and produced by Claire Haywood, follows the Darwin police force, located on the notorious Mitchell Street strip. It’s so rough at night it reminds me of the old joke: we’ve just renovated — we’ve put new drunks in. It’s only a narrow concrete precinct but at night its bars are rowdy and the drinkers need firm corralling. Tonight sees a distressed man claiming his prescription has been stolen, a machete used in an argument, a major car accident and Darwin’s alcohol-fuelled Melbourne Cup Day celebrations.
