Lyndey’s Cracking Christmas

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Monday, 8.30pm, LifeStyle Food We have a feature about Christmas cooking programs in next week’s issue, but for now don’t miss the first of two episodes of Lyndey’s Cracking Christmas. Chef and broadcaster Lyndey Milan shows you how to make light of cooking for tribes of folk at Christmas, with some new twists and some old favourites. Like Nigella Lawson, Milan has a tendency to be a little cavalier about quantities and ingredients, especially for those of us who like a precise guide. ‘‘ Add some egg whites’’ (how many?) ‘‘ some sherry’’ (how much?) ‘‘ and some mustard’’ (what kind?) There are no gimmicks here, no scenes of exotic locations, no popping out to seductively chat up a shopkeeper, as Nigella frequently does mid-program. It’s just a woman who knows what she’s about doing what she does best in her own kitchen. If it seems like an instructional video at times then that’s a small price to pay for such a banquet of really useful information.
