The Witch Doctor Will See You Now

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Tuesday, 9.40pm, SBS Two If SBS Two wants to reinvent itself as the thinking young person’s channel, it will have to do better than programs shown years ago on pay-TV. Still, for those who don’t pay for the privilege of hundreds of extra channels this is a chance to catch up. You’ll know if you’ll be able to stomach this confronting program if you can make it through the title sequence, in which the heart is removed from a live chicken and placed in the palm of someone’s hand, among other atrocities. But before we get too judgmental, it is worth remembering that when most of the world goes to the doctor, these are the things they experience. In this debut episode, host Piers Gibbon takes two unwell Western men to Hong Kong to see if snake blood can fix them.
