Overhaulin’

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Tuesday, 8.30pm, Turbo Max In which cars are, well, overhauled. But wait, there’s more. In this episode, Carlos, a US Marine Corps vet who has come back from two tours of Iraq and is in financial straits, not least because he has a new baby to feed, thinks he is selling his beloved 1950s Chevrolet Impala to pay for nappies. After conspiring with Carlos’s brothers and uncle, and swearing them to silence, the Overhaulin’ team gets to work on the jalopy. What Carlos doesn’t know is that the team is going to fix up the car, then give it back. Aw. It’s Backyard Blitz, with cars. The reveal, when it comes, is every bit as emotional in a blokey, disbelieving way. Host: ‘‘ You’re on Overhaulin’, man.’’ Carlos: ‘‘ No. Are you f . . ing serious?’’
