Spartacus: Vengeance

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Wednesday, 10.45pm, Showcase I am no prude but Spartacus: Vengeance has morphed from merely being the TV equivalent of a physique magazine — lots of wellmuscled men showing off with admittedly impressive and well-choreographed swordplay — to being practically pornographic. A guest in my house almost choked on her corn chips during last week’s episode when one of the many muscle-bound Kiwis who feature prominently (the show is made in New Zealand) stood drunk on a dais, declaiming some gibberish with his, um, member on full display. This was not long after he had appeared to make violent love to a regular female character against a wall. Thank heavens the kiddies were tucked up in bed.
