Saturday, 7.30pm, Ten Good-looking vet Chris Brown heads to his home town — Newcastle, NSW — to counsel a family about their intention to take a pig into their lives. The pig-as-pet craze is all the rage, Brown tells us, before swapping Bondi for an older but equally sun-drenched stomping ground. Though the household already has chooks, a yappy mutt and two sweet little girls, it seems George Miller’s Babe films aren’t the villain here. The young mum says the pig is her birthday present. ‘‘ If you’ve got two kids, how hard can a pig be?’’, she asks, laughing nervously. ‘‘ Pretty hard,’’ says Brown, who helpfully explains the origin of the term ‘‘ pig-headed’’, and how even mini-pigs can grow up to be 150kg monsters. So is he telling porkies? Will the family proceed after all this straight shooting?
