The Following

Wednesday, 9.30pm, Nine Am I the only one having trouble following The Following ? Kevin Bacon is always watchable, but as central character Ryan Hardy, a former FBI agent stabbed in the heart nine years ago by serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), I find his character ill-defined. Now that Carroll has escaped from prison and is back at the game, Hardy has been drafted back to the fold to recapture his old foe. Carroll has gathered around him a cult of serial killers all of whom seem bent on revenge against Hardy. Hardy has been having an affair with Carroll’s ex-wife and has written a true-crime book about Carroll, but Carroll also writes books. Then there are the two agents who pretend to be gay, but when one falls in love with a woman, the other gets really jealous. Are they serious?
