What Happened Next?

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Monday, 9.30pm, Discovery If you prefer your TV entertainment in smart little bites, as many seem to in the age of Twitter, then this is your show. Imagine Funniest Home Videos with a scientific bent. ‘‘ The world’s most amazing video clips and the incredible science behind them,’’ says the breathless English narrator. ‘‘ The scariest, the most unbelievable and the funniest.’’ Then it’s down to a single question, like a low-rent version of Brain Games (above) as people fall off treadmills, get hit by exploding pavements, and nearly flip in boats and off quad bikes: what happened next? The action freezes and helpful options appear on screen, along the lines of: A, will this boat flip?; or B, is this program a load of cheap junk? We get to make our guess, the screen unfreezes, and the science tells us why we were so wrong.
