Built for the Kill

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Saturday, 7.30pm, Nat Geo Wild Curiously, this wildlife documentary pits the great white shark against the killer whale as if they were NSW and Queensland in State of Origin. The player statistics are impressive. The great white grows up to 6m in length at a competition weight of more than 2000kg. The killer whale, meanwhile, grows to 9m in length at 9000kg. And, just as in State of Origin, this is a battle that began ten million years ago. Actually great whites are the big cats of the sea, hunting alone, while killer whales are like wolves — smart social animals that kill by working together. If you want to see a rare confrontation between these two super predators you’ll have to wait until the last five minutes. In the meantime, more skill, gore and bloody murders than Dexter as the routine killing habits of each creature is explored.
