Anthony Bourdain: The Layover

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Sunday, 8.30pm, TLC Anthony Bourdain is a blokey chef known for his witty cooking and travel writing aimed squarely at men (‘‘don’t be such a pussy — a little pink flesh in chicken won’t kill you’’) and for the food and travel porn program No Reservations, which ran for nine years. While the production style of The Layover is very similar, the premise is entirely different. In The Layover, Bourdain gives advice on how to keep oneself manfully entertained, fed and watered during that horror of air travel best known to frequent flyers such as himself — the layover. That’s when you have long hours to kill in a strange place between flights. In this episode Bourdain and crew hurtle around Miami, and the chef gets to live out his Miami Vice fantasies.
