Mon­day, 7.40pm, ABC2 I sup­pose it is about time we had a Hou­dini for the 21st cen­tury. Meet Jonathan Good­win, es­capol­o­gist and pro­fes­sional dan­ger man. Nat­u­rally, he puts him­self in the most ex­treme sit­u­a­tions and comes up smelling like a rose ev­ery time. So roll up, roll up, and see the bald man do things that have never been done be­fore. When Good­win was seven he read about Hou­dini and he tells us he has wanted to per­form stunts of es­capol­ogy ever since. His first trick in this de­but episode is nail­bit­ing. At­tached by a lock to a rope that is in turn at­tached to a car that is go­ing to speed off a cliff — like an empty ver­sion of the one in Thelma and Louise — Good­win must pick a lock when it re­ally counts be­fore he is dragged to his death.
