Four in a Bed

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Friday, 10.30pm, 7Two Don’t let the sexy title fool you. What do you think this is, SBS Two? As in its forerunner series, Three in a Bed, Four in a Bed is about sets of British bed-and-breakfast owners (incredibly there are 20 ‘‘ editions’’ of the program in this debut series from 2010) who stay in each other’s establishments and pay the amount they think their stay was worth. This week’s battle of the B&Bs starts in Blackpool, with the lads from De-Lovely. Partners in life and hospitality, Stevie and Leigh run De-Lovely, a B&B with a burlesque theme. ‘‘ De-Lovely is the ultimate marriage of burlesque and bacon,’’ gushes Stevie. ‘‘ Here you’ve got the burlesque,’’ he says, waving his arms around at the garish red decor in one of the rooms, ‘‘ and in the morning you’ve got the bacon.’’ Not without laughs, but you’ll never again see B&Bs in quite the same light.
