An­droid po­lice part­ners are de rigueur in Al­most Hu­man, a sci-fi se­ries from the fevered minds of JJ Abrams ( Lost, Star Trek ) and JH Wy­man ( Fringe). Set in 2048 and due on Amer­i­can screens in Novem­ber, the show is said to be an ac­tion-packed po­lice drama in which of­fi­cers fight crime along­side highly evolved an­droids. Stars Karl Ur­ban (Scot­tie in Abrams’s Star Trek re­boot film se­ries) as John Ken­nex, a cop who sur­vives a cat­a­strophic at­tack on the the po­lice depart­ment. When he wakes up af­ter 17 months in a coma, John is hor­ri­fied to find one of his legs is gone and he has been fit­ted with a syn­thetic limb. He re­turns to work re­luc­tantly and is paired up with a bat­tle-ready MX-43, but things don’t go smoothly. Trail­ers are avail­able on YouTube.
