Rock Legends: Rod Stewart

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Friday, 8.30pm, Studio Described here as the ‘‘ ultimate survivor’’ (his London street scored a German bomb 30 minutes before he was born on January 10, 1945) and a mix of rocker, crooner and romantic lead, Rod Stewart has had luck on his side. At Twickenham station one night in 1964, slightly drunk, he was playing Smokestack Lightnin’ on his harmonica when Long John Baldry happened by. Impressed by what he heard, he invited Stewart to join his band. A superstar was born. This documentary traces his career from reckless youth to today — three wives, eight children (by five women) and a multitude of hits and awards later.
