The Great Bear Stakeout with Billy Connolly

The Weekend Australian - Review - - Television -

Sunday, 6.30pm, Ten A television crew with specially designed remote cameras spent five months in a remote and hostile part of Alaska to film this two-part series on grizzly bears; Billy Connolly’s warm and funny narration adds an extra dimension. But if you thought bears were just great big cuddly-wuddleys, this will change your mind. Their behaviour can be anything but cute, especially when love is in the air. As winter approaches, they must focus on the salmon runs that will provide them with the bulk they’ll need to get through hibernation. Parsnip returns to the mainland from an island where she sought protection with her cub, but her fishing skills are not up to scratch and Van, a mean ol’ bull, has his eye on the cub. Mother Nature, take a bow.
